Where did the safari lodge name originate?
A Haak-en-Steek or umbrella thorn tree (Acacia tortilis) is native to the African bushveld, with its distinctive umbrella shape it is easy to recognise. The Haak-en-Steek is a protector of its surroundings, providing safety, shade, food, and shelter. This tree is the name chosen for this privately owned jewel of the Waterberg region – Haak ’n Steek Safaris.
